Waves of the heroes
WAVES OF THE HEROES
Refugees play a key role, having opposed a proactive vision of the future to the tragic experience of fleeing their home. A refugee is a person who gets into touch with a new world and brings her/his experience, helping improvement, on both human and cultural aspects, towards a universal language. Over the past few decades, migration – both international and internal – has increased dramatically and millions of people have migrated across borders or been forcibly displaced
Through the ‘Waves of the Heroes’ project, started in 2015, Sibomana travelled along typical migrant routes through Europe: Lesbos Island, Athens, Istanbul, Berlin, Rome, Torino and London, bringing his art to the locations with posters and paintings. The project is still in progress and the road is still long.
“Art is emotion, my aim is to try to convey this emotion to people, to make them reflect on the theme of migration and reception, beyond what they read in newspapers.”
