Based in Brussels, Belgium, Sibomana is an Italian-Belgian artist who grew up in different countries between Africa and Europe, experiencing different cultures, and this mix of influences has always been reflected throughout his artistic journey. He started in the early 2000′ with graffitis and then chose to study graphic design at ESA Saint-Luc, Brussels, getting his degree in 2009. Since then, Sibomana has been developing an art putting people and communities at the centre, advocating for peace and freedom. His pieces always tell a story, the story of individuals he personally met, individuals who are the most important part of his artistic process. And talk about identity, multi culturality, migration, emotion. He brought his message to several countries, mainly in the streets, willing to catch the attention of bystanders by mainly using murals and a specific artistic technique combining oversized black and white photographs and bright color painting. With the project Waves of the Heroes, initiated in 2015, Sibomana draws posters on migration in the main cities of the European migrant routes. His posters can be seen in Lesbos, Madrid, Athens, Istanbul, Rome, Turin, Berlin, London and Nicosia.

In 2017 he made his first solo exhibition Children of the sea for the Explora Museum in Rome. Between 2017 and 2018, Sibomana went several times to Nicosia in Cyprus, the last divided capital city in the world with Jerusalem. There he created One Face, a peace project on the division of the island. In 2019 he presented his project Exile at Urban Nation Museum in Berlin, part of the FRESH A.I.R. curated by Yasha Young.

Lately, Sibomana headed off to the Middle East where he created a project for kids at the Za’atari refugee Camp, located at the Syrian border in Jordan. In Palestine he made several projects in the city of Bethlehem. Milad, a mural intervention on the separation wall, and Rooted, a project that includes public installations and sites specific performances, a collaboration with the Palestinian contemporary dancer Natalie Salsa’.

Sibomana has been painting mural pieces around the world for years. His numerous artworks can be seen in Belgium, DR Congo, Rwanda, Palestine, Jordan, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Germany and UK. His latest project Freedom happened in April 2020, a worldwide community project that includes video projections on buildings to celebrate freedom during the global lock down.
